Your Mid-Year Wardrobe Refresh

Spring might still be a couple of months away, but that doesn't mean you have to wait to freshen and update your wardrobe. Attention to detail, new pairings of separates, and pops of colour can all help to revitalise your wardrobe in these last weeks of winter.

Make sure your layering pieces are sharp and fresh. A simple close-fitting style allows you to wear it under your favourite blazer for work, or under a denim shirt on the weekend. Or, choose something that is sleeveless to wear under a jacket now, and on its own later. Look for a new colour option to work with just about everything in your wardrobe, particularly light neutrals such as white, natural or grey marle to lift darker shades.

Embrace a pop of colour to inject new life into your basics. A light soft neutral, a bold pink or a sophisticated teal will give your hard-working black pieces a whole new appeal. They also look great worn with a crisp white shirt, or some denim in blue or black for an instant update and allow you to transition into the new season in style.

Look to a co-ord set to create multiple new looks just by adding a couple of matching pieces. When worn together, they can be dressed up or down simply by changing your shoes and accessories, but they really show their versatility when worn individually with other separates you already own.

Black pants are a staple in any woman's wardrobe, so simply trying a new shape can make everything else you own feel new. If you haven't yet discovered the versatility and comfort of a faux leather pant, this is the perfect addition to your wardrobe - to wear with everything from your favourite knitwear to a sharp blazer or an oversized cotton shirt. A utility pant will look strong with a chunky boot but will work equally well with a sandal or slide in summer.

Look for final layers that can be worn now in the cold, and right through to late Spring. A trench is perfect for this, giving you warmth over blazers or knitwear during Winter, but also looking relaxed and easy over jeans and a tee in Spring, or elegantly draped over your shoulders on top of a dress any time of the year.
